Women’s Caucus for the Modern Languages: 2018 Awards

The Women’s Caucus for the Modern Languages now welcomes submissions for its annual awards. The Caucus is gender-inclusive and welcomes feminist scholarship from all authors.

The 2018 Florence Howe Award
Each year, the Florence Howe Award for feminist scholarship recognizes two outstanding essays by feminist scholars, one from the field of English and one from a foreign language. Each recipient receives $250 and is honored at an event hosted by the Women’s Caucus at the annual MLA meeting. Please note that applicants must be members of the Women’s Caucus.

To be eligible for consideration, essays of no more than 10,000 words, written from a feminist perspective, must have been published in English between June 2017 and September 2018. Applicants are limited to two submissions in an award year.

Please send submissions to Michelle Massé, President of the Women’s Caucus, at mmasse@lsu.edu.

Deadline for submission: December 7, 2018.

The Annette Kolodny Award is presented annually to a graduate student member of the Women’s Caucus who is scheduled to give a paper at the MLA. The recipient receives $400 and is honored at an event hosted by the Women’s Caucus at the annual MLA meeting. Please note that applicants must be members of the Women’s Caucus, and that membership is free for graduate students.
